It took the second to most recent Family Guy episode for me to finally fully appreciate Conway Twitty. Hilarious...or not so much.

I've owned a few of his albums (including the massive, four disc Conway Twitty Collection) for quite some time. I even put all of the music I own by him on my IPod back around Christmas time. It just never got much play. However, now, I'm kind of obsessed...

There is a new Superchunk EP coming out in April. I'm so excited. There is also talk of a new full length.

Who wants to go to XX Merge in late July? July 22 - July 26 I believe. Fuck the Baltimore Fest, Gainesville Fest, and Chicago Fest...it's all about going to North Carolina in July.

Anyway, "Learned to Surf" is the best song of 2009, and that's a fact.

Man, I need to see this! Apparently they're remaking it here in the US, which is a total bummer.

Feeling old

I'm feeling old. I got off of work; felt tired, sick, and completely worn down. An hour later Jon W reminded me of the fact that there's an awesome show in Cincinnati tonight. Told him I probably wouldn't be there, because I'm, "still sick." The Serious Geniuses are probably one of my new favorite bands. They're a great blend of Archers of Loaf, Superchunk, and dirty punk rock ala Dillinger 4/Crimpshrine/Off With Their Heads. Or maybe that's just my imperfect interpretation of their music. All the same, they're awesome. Fuuuuuuck.

Iron Man:

Liked it. Definitely in the upper tier of comic book movie adaptations. Actually, I liked it it a lot. Rates along side X-Men (one of my favorite comic book adaptations) in my book.

The Happening:

Disliked it. I couldn't even finish it. Yuck. I really wanted to like it too. I love post-apocalyptic movies, even poorly done ones, but I just couldn't get past the first forty-five minutes of this movie.

True Blood (new HBO series):

Love it. HBO is so dependable. God bless them...even if they did pass on doing a Preacher series because it would be too controversial (well, no shit). Although, in the long run I guess I'm really glad they passed on doing a Preacher series (even if it is the only way it could have been done properly in my opinion).

Fringe (new Fox series):

Like it. It's like the hip X-files. Or something. It's not perfect, but I still enjoy it greatly.

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist:

It was OK. Shannon was able to get some sneak preview passes for this, so her and I went to see it. I enjoy Michael Cera immensely, so I knew I would at the very least think this movie was decent. And yeah, that's more or less how I felt about it. Not perfect, but it definitely ad its moments.

Burn After Reading:

Liked it a lot. Saw this one with Shannon as well. A really funny movie. Brad Pitt was perfect in it, as was George Clooney.

The Incredible Hulk:

Like it a lot. So far I'm really enjoying this movie. Seems like they got it right this time (even though I kind of liked the last one, but I think I'm in the minority with that opinion).

PBS' recent NOVA documentary on "Astrospies":

Loved it. Soooooo cool. A definite need to see for Cold War history nerds like me.

Holy shit, the new Alex Kerns (of Lemuria "fame") solo stuff is amazing. "Clamor On" may be the best pop song of the year yet. Musically it reminds me of Superchunk...which is awesome!
